Coins Released by the National Bank of Hungary to Commemorate Translation of the Bible into Hungarian

The National bank of Hungary has issued Gold coins of denominations 50,000 and 5000 forint along with a base metal coin of the denomination 2000 forint.These coins mark the 425th anniversary of the year when the Bible was first translated into Hungarian. The design on all three coins is similar with the only difference being the denomination in numerals displayed on the flan.
The obverse faces of the coin show a relief of the Vizsoly Reform Church with an inscription above it that reads – ‘MAGYARORSZÁG’.
The denomination in numerals is placed below the relief while ‘2015’ and the mint mark and placed to the left of the icon. The reverse depicts the letter ‘V’ on a floral background enclosed in a square in the centre of the flan. The frame is surrounded by the inscription ‘425 ÉVES A VIZSOLYI BIBLIA’ from the left to right. ‘1590-2015’ is inscribed below the box with the initials of the designer of the coins, Andrea Horváth, inscribed on the lower centre of the coin. All three coins are in an uncirculated condition with a smooth edge. The 50,000 forint coin contains 0.986 of fine gold with the total standard weight of 3.491 grams and a diameter of 20 mm. The 5000 forint coin contains 0.999 fine gold and has a weight of 0.5 gram and a diameter of 11 mm while the 200 forint coin contains Cupro-Nickel and Zinc and weighs 2.7 grams and is of a 20 mm diameter.
